Řasnice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Řasnice lies in the Řasnice Valley between Horní Vltavice and Strážný, approximately 3 km east of Strážný. The boundary of Šumava National Park runs through the village along the Řasnice River. The settlement lies on the lower slopes of a narrow valley of the Řasnice.
Nature
From the former Salzer Mill to Hliniště, the Řasnice shapes wild landscapes that are almost untouched by humans. Near Strážný and the Řasnice River lies the Splavské rašeliniště nature monument, which protects a valley bog with typical vegetation.
History and Village Character
Řasnice probably originated around 1720; the village was first mentioned in 1790. The settlement was built along the route of the Golden Trail between Vimperk and Strážný. Historically, Řasnice is classified as a loosely arranged short forest-strip settlement. The former name Pumperle was derived from a water pumping station (“pumpe”).
Architectural Heritage
The preserved ensemble of the former Salzer Mill in Řasnice comprises the mill and two associated houses. The former Salzer Mill on the Řasnice retains its original building fabric and numerous characteristic details. Houses Nos. 20 and 24 are among the best-preserved buildings in Řasnice.
South of Řasnice, a mill was built on the right bank of the Řasnice in the second half of the 19th century. The original residential buildings in Řasnice belonged to the Šumava log-house type; shingles were used as roofing and to clad the vertical weather-facing sides. The Tomaschkových farmstead is part of Řasnice’s historic village character.
Paths and Terrain
Near Strážný there is a system of preserved remnants of paths from the Vimperk branch of the Golden Trail, almost 1 km long; its end lies approximately 100 m north of the Řasnice stream.
The Řasnatá Vltava route leads via Lenora, Vlčí Jámy, Řasnice, the Splavské rašeliniště and the Radvanovický hřbet back to Lenora. It features moderate, locally steep ascents and descents, waterlogged ground in sections, slippery stones, tall grass, forest paths and climbing over fallen trees.
