Nové Hutě is located in the Šumava Protected Landscape Area on the border of Šumava National Park. The Nové Hutě ski area has the 1,050-metre-long Tatrapoma Nové Hutě ski lift.

Winter and Cross-Country Skiing

The Nové Hutě ski area is suitable for families with children as well as beginners and slightly advanced skiers. The regularly groomed Staré Hutě–Přilba–Zlatá Studna–Zadov–Pláně cross-country skiing route runs 50 metres from the lift's upper station. Nové Hutě also has cross-country skiing trails leading towards Pláně, Zadov and Zlatá Studna.

Nature and Surroundings

Kamenná hora mountain is located in the immediate vicinity of Nové Hutě. The surrounding area is home to Vysoký stolec, Popelná hora and Holý vrch mountains. Pasecká slať is a natural habitat of the black grouse.

History and Culture

The local glassworks, later renamed Mayerova, operated for the longest time in the entire village and closed in 1876. In 1825, the last glassworks in the area was established in Studený Potok.

The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Nové Hutě dates from 1895 to 1901 and is the second-highest church in the Czech Republic. The Frauenau Museum, a glass museum, is located in the wider regional vicinity of Nové Hutě.

Practical Information

The municipal car park has spaces for passenger cars weighing up to 3.5 tonnes and for buses. Parking costs CZK 100 per day in each case.
