Želeč: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The village square of Želeč is characterised by its original farmsteads and an old avenue of lime trees. The village lies in a shallow depression between opposing southern and northern slopes and blends into gently rolling terrain.

Culture and History

The parish church of St Bartholomew in Želeč was consecrated on 27 August 1939 by the Bishop of Olomouc, ThDr Josef Schinzel. It is a single-nave building with a narrower pentagonal presbytery, a sacristy and a 31-metre-high tower. The protected complex comprises the church, the cemetery wall with gates, a niche chapel and the enclosed plots of the grounds.

East of the village square of Želeč, a listed granary is located in the area of the farmstead. A remarkable Poklona sv. Jana Nepomuckého from the late 18th century stands by the wall of the château grounds. The former manor house of Želeč was converted into a Renaissance-style building in the 1570s by the Želecký z Počenic family, from an original fortress.

Landscape and Special Places

The three-sided, plastered wayside shrine Boží muka stands in a field on the right side of the road on the hill between Želeč and Doloplazy. A reservoir with an island was built below Želeč; it is considered one of the important biotopes.

Sports and Public Spaces

The Sportovní areál a Wellness Želeč comprises a tennis court and two multi-purpose courts with synthetic surfaces for tennis, volleyball, foot-tennis, floorball and small-sided football. The two multi-purpose courts are free of charge and open to the public daily from 09:00 to 16:00; after 16:00, free reservation is required in advance.
