Hruška: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Hruška was first mentioned in 1078 in the founding charter of Hradisko Monastery. The village preserves a historic settlement structure associated with a medieval foundation.

Culture and history

The historic village structure of Hruška includes an elongated village green, bounded at its outer edge by an oval of paths running behind the farmsteads. These paths enclose the original medieval settlement and can be followed on foot around the entire village.

The Church of St. John of Nepomuk is located in Hruška’s central village green. In Hruška, it is designated as a cultural heritage site of local significance. A war memorial on the village green near the church commemorates those who fell in the First World War and the victims of Nazi persecution.

Compared with the surrounding region, traditional Válkové mud-brick buildings are particularly common in Hruška. Remains of Válkové masonry can be seen on several preserved barns and on one house in Hruška; they can be encountered during a walk along the paths running behind the farmsteads.

Cycling

Signposted cycle route No. 5013 passes through Hruška and continues from Tvorovice to Němčice nad Hanou. It is of moderate difficulty, signposted as a road route, and runs along paved Class II and Class III roads.

During the summer months, the ponds below Hruška are a pleasant place to sit.

Hruška can be reached on foot or by bus from Němčice nad Hanou railway station, which is located on the Brno–Přerov railway line.
