Polomí: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Polomí is a street village shaped by a village green, situated in a sloping valley at the northern end of the Drahany Highlands. The village green is lined with loosely arranged original single-storey buildings with a mezzanine in the roof area. The Polomský stream rises directly in Polomí and only resurfaces below the built-up area.

Culture and History

The probably oldest written mention of Polomí dates from 20 May 1301. The bell tower of Saint Martin dates from the late 18th century. The bell in the bell tower of Saint Martin was cast in 1807 by Wolfgang Straub from Olomouc and bears reliefs of the Holy Family and Saint Barbara.

The painter Josef Mánes is also said to have stayed directly in Polomí several times.

Wayside Monuments

The sandstone wayside cross by the road dates from 1939. At the wayside cross, both the corpus of Christ and the cross are made from a single piece of sandstone. The linden trees planted by the road to commemorate freedom were planted on 28 October 1928 on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the establishment of Czechoslovakia.

The Boží muka near the linden trees and the cross date from no later than the first third of the 19th century and depict Jesus, the Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph and Saint Ludmila. At the edge of the forest, next to the track from the playground to the forester's lodge, there is an image of the Mother of God.

Local Life

A private stable in Polomí enables children to ride horses and also engage in activities related to horse keeping. A private farmer in Polomí offers their own organic food products. There is a new bus stop in Polomí along the road passing through the village.
