Protivanov: Apartments and Holiday Homes

About 0.5 km northwest of Protivanov, in the valley of the Protivanovský potok, lies the natural monument that is also the Protivanov Natura 2000 site. Southwest of the village is U žlíbku, a sloping meadow in the Drahanská vrchovina at an elevation of 630 m. The Skály area is the highest point of the Drahanská vrchovina; Skály is also a mountain in the vicinity of Protivanov. Skalky, a mountain, is likewise located nearby.

Culture and History

The parish Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was built in 1772 to replace the church that burned down in 1771. The church can be visited by prior arrangement. A stone baptismal font inside the church is a historical memorial.

A crucifix stands on the road to Boskovice in Protivanov: a cast-iron cross on a colorfully painted stone pedestal. The Baroque pedestal dates from 1798, while the cross probably comes from a later period; its creator is unknown. In a field on the road from Protivanov toward Niva, there is also a brick-built and plastered niche chapel from the 19th century.
