Klopotovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Klopotovice is characterized by agriculture and lies on the edge of the Upper Moravian Valley. Very fertile black earth soils meet a low proportion of forest here.

Nature and Landscape

The cadastral area of Klopotovice is flat; the difference in elevation is up to 10 meters. The Blata runs through the area from northwest to southeast over a total length of 3 kilometers, and its water surface covers 3 hectares.

Culture and History

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk is registered as a cultural monument. It was built and consecrated in 1810. Its design includes a set-back pentagonal presbytery and a prismatic bell tower. The chapel grounds also include a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1740, which stands on a prismatic pedestal. The monument to Saint John of Nepomuk was restored in 1740 and moved to its present location.

The Freedom Monument from 1922 commemorates the inhabitants of Klopotovice who fell in the First World War and the local legionnaires. Václav Plachý is also associated with the village: he was born in Klopotovice on September 4, 1785, and was a composer and organist. The statue of the Virgin Mary in Klopotovice, the main cross in the Klopotovice cemetery, and the monument to the war victims in the center of Klopotovice are monuments of local significance.

The statue of the Svatý Kopeček Madonna was erected in May 1946 at the site of a destroyed cross. It commemorates the devastation of Klopotovice at the end of the Second World War in May 1945. The statue of the Hostýn Madonna was commissioned at the end of the 19th century by František and Františka Klobouk; its creator was A. Beck from Kroměříž. The Pietà depicts Our Lady of Sorrows with the dead Jesus Christ, taken down from the cross, in her lap. The Krátký couple from Klopotovice had it made in 1898 in honor and praise of the Virgin Mary.

Memorials and Connections

Kloboukův kříž is a cross from 1912 and stands on a field path from Klopotovice to the Tovačov–Prostějov road. The cross from 1855 marked a place for a dignified farewell to the deceased. The cross from 1882 stands on a field path leading to Tovačov. The sandstone monument is dedicated to Prussian Major Eduard von Behr and is associated with the Prussian-Austrian Battle of Tovačov on July 15, 1866.

Road connections from Klopotovice lead toward Prostějov, Přerov, and Olomouc. The motorway toward Brno–Olomouc is 10 kilometers from Klopotovice in the direction of Prostějov.
