Ptení is the center of the area around the Romže and lies approximately halfway between Konice and Prostějov.
Culture and history
The single-nave Church of St. Martin has a tower and two side chapels with oratories, arranged in a cross shape to the north and south in front of the presbytery. It also includes a Gothic portal from the late 14th century, which has been reconstructed and left visible.
The oldest surviving written mention of Ptení dates from 1131. At the beginning of the 16th century, members of the Šarovec family had the local aristocratic residence renovated in the form of a château; as a result, Ptení gradually became the center of the Šarovci estate. A mini-exhibition on the history of Ptení is open during the municipal office’s opening hours.
Ptení Château is a late Renaissance, multi-storey château with round corner towers, probably built at the beginning of the 17th century on the site of an earlier fortress. Ptení Château can be visited during events or work sessions. During such events, visitors can see the Knights’ Hall, the hunting salon, or a French-style room.
In the vicinity of Ptení are the monuments Pomník obětem 1. a 2. světové války and Pomník obětem 1. světové války. The monument Socha sv. Jana Nepomuckého is also located nearby. The Church of the Guardian Angels is located in the immediate vicinity of Ptení.
