Niva: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Niva is located in the northern part of the Drahanská vrchovina highlands, west of Prostějov. The area around Horní rybník pond is protected as the Nivské louky nature monument.

Nature

Nivské louky comprises meadow communities and wetland areas that are home to endangered and rare plant and animal species. The Návesní niva nature monument is located in the southern centre of Niva and consists of waterlogged floodplain meadows. Návesní niva comprises wet meadows with a species-rich flora and fauna, including amphibians. The Bílá Voda stream flows through Niva and feeds all three ponds in the village.

Activities

Several hiking trails and a cycle path pass through Niva. Cycle route 5075, signposted as the Greenway Krakow–Moravia–Vienna, runs through Niva and connects Sloup, Repechy, Plumlov and Prostějov along the route mentioned.

The Skály, Bučí, Skatulec and Horka mountains are located in the vicinity of Niva. The Pomník obětem 1. a 2. světové války monument and the ruins of Kuchlov and Hrádek are also located nearby. The Pomník obětem 1. světové války monument lies in the wider regional surroundings of Niva.

History

Niva was formerly called Hartmanice. The first written mention of Hartmanice dates back to 1347. During the Second World War, Hartmanice was evacuated on 30 November 1942, its population was forcibly relocated, and the village was used by German troops as a practice firing range; after the war, former residents returned.
