Čehovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Church of Saint Procopius is considered the centerpiece of the village square in Čehovice and the oldest monument in the municipality.

Culture and Local History

The church is a single-nave, oriented Baroque church dating from 1788–1789. The present Church of Saint Procopius was built in 1789 using material from the old church. Its church grounds include a well-maintained park with mature trees.

A festive Mass is usually celebrated in the church on the Sunday closest to the feast day of Saint Procopius on 4 July. On Stráž Hill there is also a small Chapel of Saint Procopius bearing the year 1634. It commemorates the original location of Čehovice: after the village was probably destroyed in wartime, it was rebuilt approximately 1 km farther down, near the Vřesůvka River. The area in front of the chapel is occasionally used for outdoor weddings.

Archaeological finds are also part of the local history. In 1947, a gold find belonging to the Middle Danubian Tumulus Culture was discovered in the “Poblatí” field; it consisted of several gold wires and decorated gold foil pieces. In the “Jelítka” field, extensive ceramic remains from the same period came to light during deep ploughing in 1920.

Nature and Educational Trail

The Vřesůvka stream flows along the edge of Čehovice. The Čehovice educational trail forms a circular route and is suitable for walks and cycling tours. Six information panels provide information about the wetland biocorridor, the local history, and the municipality’s cultural monuments.

Cycle Path and Connection

The 1.734 km section of the cycle path from Bedihošť to Čehovice runs along the railway line. Road II/367 passes through Bedihošť, Čehovice, and Čelčice. It is the only direct connection between these municipalities and Prostějov and is also used by cyclists.
