Smrzice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Smržice combines distinctive sacred buildings, historical landmarks and concrete opportunities for exercise in and around the town. The Church of St. Peter and St. Paul was built from 1854 to 1860 and consecrated on 6 October 1861 by the auxiliary bishop of Olomouc, Rudolf Baron von Thyssebaart. Its interior is 42 metres long, 14 metres wide and 19 metres high.
Culture and History
Another historic building is the Baroque vicarage in Smržice. Pastor Vogl had it built in 1761 on the site of an old demolished building; it is considered the oldest building in the municipality. The municipality uses the vicarage for Easter and Christmas exhibitions.
The sacred and commemorative sites in the surrounding area include the Church of the Guardian Angels. In the immediate vicinity of Smržice, there are also the Monument to the Victims of the First World War and the Statue of St. John of Nepomuk. In front of the Sokolovna in Smržice stands a wayside shrine known as Boží muka, dating from the first half of the 18th century and described as the oldest in the Prostějov District. The territory of Smržice is also home to three commemorative plaques dedicated to three notable figures from Smržice: Jakub Kresy, Jaroslav Kubíček and editor Josef Kotek.
