Hvozd: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Hvozd, protected nature, marked trails, and small monuments come together. Part of the municipality’s territory lies in the Kladecko Nature Park, which also includes the Taramka Nature Monument. Fragments of Hercynian oak-hornbeam forests, species-rich beech forests, calcicolous beech forests, and a mesic tall oat-grass meadow with protected and endangered plant species can be found there.

Nature

The Špraněk flows through the cadastral area of Hvozd in a deeply incised valley. Karst formations are located in its surroundings. The Stráž hill south of Hvozd is also a prominent landscape feature: from there, the most distant visible places are up to 63 kilometres away.

The source of the small Pilávka stream is also located in the surroundings of Hvozd, in a forest between Hvozd and Bohuslavice. A footpath begins at the road leading from Bohuslavice towards Hvozd and reaches the source after approximately 300 metres. According to local legend, a stone statue in the area is known as the petrified fairy Pilávka.

Trails

Several marked routes run through Hvozd or the Hvozd area. The blue-marked hiking trail leads from Malé Hradisko via Stražisko and Budětsko through Hvozd to Vojtěchov. The yellow-marked hiking trail runs from Vojtěchov to Javoříčko through the Hvozd area. The Špraněk educational trail also partly runs through the Hvozd area.

Cycle route No. 5277 runs between Milkov and Bohuslavice through the Hvozd area. The five-kilometre-long Špraněk educational trail also runs in the surroundings as a circular route through the Špraněk National Nature Reserve. It begins and ends at the Javoříčko Caves.

Culture

The immovable cultural monument No. 22357/7-5554, the wayside shrine near House No. 94, is among the local monuments in the cadastral area of Hvozd. The block-shaped wayside shrine has a glazed front niche and is an example of small-scale folk architecture from the 18th century.

The Chapel of Saint Wenceslas stands in Hvozd’s village square and is classified as a monument of local significance. A stone cross stands in front of the chapel. The building has a slender bell tower, resembles a small church, and bears the year 1906 above the entrance.

The wayside shrine on the road to Luká is also protected as an immovable cultural monument. It is considered a folk structure from the 18th century. The Hvozdecká cesta provides a historical connection; it was mentioned in 1279 as a route linking the area of Mohelnice and Litovel with Konice.
