Habřina: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Habřina and its surroundings combine historic church architecture, archaeological traces of fortifications, and routes connecting Chloumek, the surrounding localities, and the Elbe.

Church of St. Wenceslas on Chloumek

A particularly multifaceted testimony is the cemetery church of St. Wenceslas on Chloumek. It was originally built as a Gothic structure in the 14th century, rebuilt in the Renaissance style at the end of the 16th century, and given a Baroque exterior in 1702. The church contains a marble figurative epitaph by J. Bedřich Rodovský of Hustířany from 1594.

Since 1964, the church complex, together with the bell tower, gravedigger’s house, and surrounding wall, has been listed as an immovable cultural monument (register no. 30593/6-600). The complex is currently accessible via a network of paths running in the immediate vicinity of the site.

Traces of Fortifications in the Surrounding Area

The traces of fortifications in the surrounding area are also situated in clearly identifiable terrain structures. The Vračba (Vražba) fortress, whose remains are locally called Na zámečku, stood on a wooded spur above the left bank of the Hustířanka, less than 1 km from the centre of the present-day municipality of Habřina. Its site has an oval ground plan and is surrounded by a rampart and a ditch.

The Hrad Neznášov/Rotemberk archaeological site lies on a wooded spur 280 to 300 metres long and 15 to 40 metres wide on the left bank of the Hustířanský potok, approximately 1.4 km north of the built-up area of Habřina. A relief remnant of the surrounding fortification and the remains of a presumably round tower have survived at the site. The oval core of Rotemberk is surrounded by a ditch; a well is located on its southeastern side.

Routes between Chloumek, Habřina, and the Elbe

Two different connections are documented for outdoor routes. A blue-marked hiking trail now connects the spa town of Velichovky with important and historic places in the surrounding area, including the Rotenberg hillfort. It runs north of Chloumek towards Černožice. Cycle paths lead from Habřina to Holohlavy and onwards to the Hradec Králové–Kuks cycle path, which they join at the Elbe.

Other Historic Points

Other historic points include an iron cross at the former mill site in Kouty, which stands above the grave of a Prussian lieutenant. A stone single-arch bridge from 1785 also crosses the Hustířanka; it has been protected as a monument since 11 September 1995.
