Hořiněves: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
The Václav Hanka Memorial House in Hořiněves houses a permanent exhibition with photographs and documents about the life and work of Václav Hanka. At the same time, it is a representative example of a wooden folk building from 1720.
Culture and history
The present-day Church of Saint Procopius in Hořiněves is a Baroque church built in 1707 on the site of an earlier church. Cannonballs are set into its walls. Near the church, graves and monuments commemorate the battles of the Austro-Prussian War of 1866.
Hořiněves Château acquired its fully Baroque appearance during a reconstruction carried out from 1674 to 1676. Guided tours with explanations at the Václav Hanka Memorial House must always be reserved in advance.
Nature and trails
The protected Hořiněves memorial lime trees are among the locality’s notable natural landmarks. They are estimated to be more than 500 years old. A local field path leads to them; from the former water tower, go left and then continue for approximately 200 metres.
The forest section of the Hořiněvská Bažantnice educational trail is accessible on foot. However, most of the trail’s interactive and information panels were damaged after a natural disaster in 2025 and removed from the forest.
The “From Hořiněves to Číštěves” route begins at Václav Hanka’s birthplace in Hořiněves.
