Aldea Real: Religious Buildings, Festival and Nearby Destinations
The Ermita del Santo Cristo del Humilladero dates from the 16th century and was restored in the 20th century. It is located in the municipal cemetery of Aldea Real in the direction of Pinarnegrillo and is a rectangular building made of rubble masonry. Inside, there is a Baroque altar. During your visit, you can compare the building structure, building material and altar as different points of observation.
Culture
The Ermita de San Blas is a square building made of rubble masonry and bricks. In the Iglesia Parroquial de San Juan Bautista, the presbytery has a Gothic rib vault with tiercerons and liernes. Its portal dates from the 16th century. Rectangular and square floor plans, along with rubble masonry, brick, vaults and the portal, provide a direct basis for comparing the local architecture. The architectural forms and details can be considered individually instead of recording the religious buildings only by their names.
Getting there
Aldea Real can be reached via Regional Road 601 in the direction of Valladolid; a turnoff then leads east towards Aguilafuente. The route sequence described connects the regional road with the eastern access section and provides a clear spatial reference for planning your journey.
In the town
Parque San Blas is a green space with swings, tables and barbecue areas. The Ermita de San Antonio Abad stands at the entrance to Aldea Real next to a children's playground. Santo Cristo de la Columna is located at the exit from Aldea Real. For planning your visit to the town, you can consider the green space, entrance and exit as different points of reference.
Festival and excursions
The Natividad de la Virgen festival in Aldea Real lasts four days. The castle of Turégano is located in the surroundings of Aldea Real. In the wider regional surroundings of Aldea Real are the Hoces del río Duratón park and the Real Casa de Moneda de Segovia. The Alcázar of Segovia and the Museo Gastronómico de Segovia are also located in the wider regional surroundings. The different spatial references and themes help you incorporate local culture, a festival, the landscape and the destinations mentioned in the wider surroundings separately into your travel planning.
When allocating the focus of a day, the themes can be clearly separated: the religious buildings bring together architectural forms and historical details, the four-day Natividad de la Virgen festival provides a time-limited cultural highlight, and the destinations in the wider regional surroundings extend the radius beyond Aldea Real. This means that a visit to the town, a festival date and regional excursions already differ according to their respective focus.
When planning your trip, if you are staying in a holiday apartment in Aldea Real, you can compare travel dates, room categories and cancellation policies on the offer pages while also deciding whether local buildings, the park, the festival or destinations in the surrounding area should be the main focus.
