The Senda del Mirador de la Velilla leads to a viewpoint overlooking La Velilla and the surrounding landscape. The Senda del mirador de la Velilla is a linear trail that begins and ends at the Casa del Águila Imperial and is part of the Parque Natural Sierra Norte de Guadarrama.

The Ruta de Tierra de Pedraza is a 25 km circular route that passes through La Velilla and has a moderate level of difficulty. It can be hiked year-round. The Senda de los Pescadores runs through the Río Cega gorge between La Velilla and Pajares de Pedraza and is part of the Ruta de Tierra de Pedraza. Nature

Near La Velilla, the Río Cega flows through a rocky riverbed. Poplar groves and riverside meadows bordered by stone walls line the course. In the area of the Cuestas arenosas de La Velilla-Pedraza, there are partly vegetated sandy slopes with erosion gullies, as well as sand and clay layers in different colours.

The wider regional surroundings of La Velilla include the Nevera peak, Peñacabra peak, Navahonda peak and La Cebollera mountain. The Hoces del rio Duraton park and the Monasterio de Santa María de El Paular are also located there.

The San Salvador festival is associated with 5 and 6 August and includes a communal Caldereta. The festival in honour of the Virgen del Rosario is associated with the first weekend in October.
