In L'aleixar, the Sant Martí church has a Baroque organ from the 18th century, considered one of the few surviving organs in this area.

Culture and history

The church is documented in a papal bull from 1194 and has a Baroque portal bearing the year 1725. Mascabrers is a now-abandoned and dilapidated settlement belonging to l'Aleixar, with a single street, a small square and a legendary fountain. Mascabrers inspired the poet Ventura Gassol to write the play “La cançó del Vell Cabrés” (Barcelona, 1924).

The Ermita de Sant Blai is about a ten-minute walk from l'Aleixar and is a destination for excursionists. As polychrome wooden panels indicate, it has medieval origins. The Festa Major de Sant Blai includes the blessing of the fruit; the Festa Major de la Santíssima Trinitat and Santa Fímbria include the blessing of the water.

Nature

The Alzina del Mas de Borbó is considered the largest and probably oldest holm oak in Catalonia. The Pi de les Planes is considered one of the thickest pine trees in Catalonia and has a trunk circumference of 4.70 metres.

Paths and activities

The Mir-Manent Route leads to 20 places that inspired 32 paintings by Mir and passes through landscapes described by Marià Manent in his diaries. The section in l'Aleixar includes the village and the Ermita de Sant Blai.

The Mir-Manent Route can be reached via the T-11 Reus bypass road towards Falset, Exit 1, and then via the T-704 to l'Aleixar. The information on the route, walking time and duration allows different types of activities to be compared without prescribing a specific itinerary.

The options described differ in their form and rhythm: the Mir-Manent Route connects several artistic and landscape points of reference, while the riding centre offers a clearly defined activity with its own minimum duration. This makes it possible to consider routes, rides, local history and natural features as different themes of the stay, without combining them into a fixed programme.

At the “La Mussara” riding centre, adults and children aged three and over are taught to ride. The centre offers rides in the mountains lasting at least one hour. The “La Mussara” riding centre provides direct access to the paths, without having to use a road first.
