Discover Mollerussa: Culture, Festivals and Holiday Rentals

The Museu de Vestits de Paper houses a collection of almost 90 paper dresses from various editions of the Concurs Nacional de Vestits de Paper. The Museu explains how paper dresses are made and connects the tradition with a small workshop operating in Mollerussa in the 1950s. Visits to the Museu de Vestits de Paper are possible by prior appointment.

Culture and architectural heritage

The Espai Cultural dels Canals d’Urgell, or ECCU for short, is an interpretation centre for the areas irrigated by the Canals d’Urgell. Visits to the ECCU are always guided and require advance booking. The ECCU has a permanent exhibition on the area and the canal, as well as spaces for temporary exhibitions.

The ECCU is located on the ground floor of the Casa Canal, a 1,200 m² building constructed between 1867 and 1876. The third main canal of the Canals d’Urgell and its associated waterfall run along the avenue next to the ECCU.

The Esglèsia de Sant Jaume is a large church inspired by Florentine architecture, with a basilica-style layout, two side aisles and a central nave that is noticeably higher. It has a square shape, is 40 metres high from the base to the top, and is built entirely of exposed brick.

Festivals and music

The Fira de Sant Josep was established in 1872 as a primarily agricultural fair. Today it is known as La Feria Catalana de la Maquinaria Agrícola, the Catalan Fair of Agricultural Machinery; it is a fair for agricultural machinery with a motor show.

Mollerussa’s Festa Major begins with a traditional public Llonganissada. The ARF Diables de Mollerussa organise an opening fire show during the Festa Major.

The Aplec de la Sardana includes an introductory circle for people who want to learn Sardana dancing or improve their skills. The Aplec de la Sardana is maintained in Mollerussa as an intergenerational tradition.

Els annexos del Minúscul offers cultural activities in Mollerussa throughout the year, with music as its thematic focus. The Minúscul Festival of Mollerussa reached its fifth edition.

The Trobada gegantera i grallera of Mollerussa’s Festa Major reached its 20th edition and brought together around ten groups. The Festa Major’s large Correfoc begins after the Trobada gegantera i grallera.

Active experiences

Mollerussa’s Festa Major programme includes a popular bike ride to the Salt del Duran. The Fita Alta Madness at the Circuit d’Autocròs de Mollerussa includes 100 climbs and descents on the ramp; the route covers 7 kilometres in total, with 700 metres of elevation gain.

Mollerussa is easily accessible via the A-2 motorway and has a railway station on the Lleida–Manresa line, as well as bus services.
