The Cingles de Tavertet rise 400 metres above the Sau reservoir. Their sheer rock faces reach heights of 200 metres.

Nature

At the foot of the Mas l'Avenc farmhouse, the Salts de l'Avenc waterfalls are formed by the Avellanosa and Abeurador streams. They plunge 200 metres into the Sau Valley. This landscape feature therefore combines the names of the two streams with the farmhouse and the valley below.

The Mirador pla del Castell viewpoint offers views of the Sau reservoir. Its views also include the Guilleries and Montseny. Anyone reaching it on foot from Tavertet walks for 30 minutes. This time indication specifically describes access from the village to the viewpoint and can be taken into account when planning the day.

The cliffs of l’Avenc de Tavertet overlook the Sau Valley and the Osona Plain. At the same time, they preserve the landscapes of the plateaus.

The course of the Ter in the Tavertet area shapes an impressive landscape, forms high sheer cliffs and flows into the beginning of the Sau reservoir.

The Salt de Tirabous can be seen from Puig de la Força or Pla del Castell.

Culture

The entire village of Tavertet is designated as a Bé d'Interès Cultural. This designation refers to the village as a whole and not just to a single building.

In the town centre, Tavertet preserves forty houses. They were built between the 17th and 18th centuries. The number of houses and the period in which they were built give the town centre a clear historical context.

The Dolmen de Sant Corneli lies directly beside the Sant Corneli chapel. Its chamber is square and has a stone slab serving as an entrance. The dolmen also includes a corridor resembling the chamber. In addition to its location, the individual structural components of the dolmen are therefore named.

The Sant Cristòfol church is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. A weekend visit can take place within this specified time window.

Activities

Visitors can go hiking and take BTT excursions from Tavertet. Routes from Tavertet lead to the Sau reservoir and other natural landscapes. The GR 2 route is part of active tourism in Tavertet.

Puig de la Força can be reached from Tavertet. A signposted hiking trail leads there. The trail markings make clear that access follows a designated hiking route.

A route leads from Tavertet along the steep slope to the Mirador pla del Castell viewpoint. Together with the stated walking time, this describes both the route along the steep slope and the time required to access it.
