Culture and History

In Masquefa, La Fàbrica Rogelio Rojo is designated as a Bé Cultural d’Interès Local and recognised as part of Masquefa’s historical heritage.

La Fàbrica Rogelio Rojo began operating in Masquefa in 1922 and contributed to the industrialisation of the municipality.

The Centre d’Interpretació de La Fàbrica Rogelio Rojo presents Masquefa’s industrial past.

The Església de Sant Pere i la Santa Creu is locally known as Cementiri Vell and is considered the first documented building in Masquefa’s history.

The Capella del Roser was built in the 18th century and used until 1920.

Festivals and Wine

The Aplec al Cementiri Vell takes place every year on Easter Monday at the former Romanesque church and includes Sardana dancing, a communal meal and a mass.

The Festa Major Petita preserves traditional elements such as the Fava dinner, the selection of the Faves d’Argent and the Ball de la Garlanda.

The Festa Major Petita is celebrated on 15 May and lasts three days.

The Festa del Raïm takes place in the second week of September, featuring the transport of grapes on carts and by horse, traditional grape treading, and activities related to wine and agriculture.

The Celler de Raventós Rossell offers winery tours, cellar visits and private or group tastings.

Nature and Discovery

The Centre de Recuperació d’Amfibis i Rèptils de Catalunya, or CRARC for short, rehabilitates wild animals and promotes scientific research and environmental education.

School visits to the CRARC introduce students to turtles, lizards, newts and other amphibians and reptiles through observation and hands-on exploration, while fostering respect for these animals.

“Daix i el rèptil misteriós” is a digital, play-based family experience with puzzle stations that explores the history and heritage of Masquefa.

Landscape and Trails

The historic site is located on a rocky outcrop between the cemetery stream and the riverbed, about 500 metres from the present-day town, and offers an unobstructed view of the southern side of Montserrat.

A route through the Serra d’Ocata runs between forests and vineyards and crosses the Serra d’Ocata pass.

Another route runs between vineyards, with the Serra de Montserrat visible in the distance.

An additional route offers views of Montserrat.

A route crosses Masquefa from Can Quiseró to La Beguda without crossing a road, using only paths and other traffic routes.

Getting There

The R6 line of the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya between Igualada and Barcelona stops in the centre of Masquefa as well as in Can Parellada and La Beguda Alta.
