The Església de Sant Pau d'Ordal is a single-nave church with an apse, a portal with a voussoir arch and a square bell tower to the left of the main façade. The earliest documented references to the Església de Sant Pau d'Ordal date from 1054 to 1060.

Culture and History

To the right of the entrance to the Església de Sant Pau d'Ordal, a fragmentary baptismal font is located in a chapel. A religious legend about Sant Serapi, also known as Sant Serafí, is historically connected with Sant Pau d'Ordal. The two names refer to the same figure within this tradition.

The Esperanto Route in Subirats leads in Sant Pau d'Ordal to the pharmacy, Carrer Zamenhof, the former Esperanto Museum, the schools and other outdoor areas of the village. Its route therefore includes specific addresses and open spaces, as well as the museum explicitly described as former.

Lluís M. Hernández Yzal (1917–2002) was a pharmacist from Barcelona who settled in Sant Pau d'Ordal in 1945. From the end of the 1950s onwards, he became interested in Esperanto. His dates of life, his origins in Barcelona and his settlement in Sant Pau d'Ordal are part of this personal story, as is his later interest in the language.

Nature and Public Spaces

The Parc de Subirats is a public park in the centre of Sant Pau d'Ordal. It combines large stone volumes with native and cultivated vegetation characteristic of the local landscape. Stone and planting form two clearly identified design elements in this setting.

The complex comprising Plaça and Parc de Subirats in Sant Pau d'Ordal, into which the Font de la Plaça Subirats is integrated, was designed by the architect Iñaki Ozcariz and inaugurated in June 2005. The design, integrated fountain and inauguration date all belong to the same square and park complex.

The Font de la Plaça Subirats is located beside the greenway leading downhill from Plaça Subirats to the football pitch. Its location is therefore tied to a route between the square and the football pitch.

The Escultura de la Plaça Subirats is a three-metre-high abstract wooden sculpture attached to the ground with a metal platform. It was created during the 1st Alt Penedès Sculpture Symposium, held from 16 to 20 June 2003 in Plaça Jaume I in Vilafranca del Penedès, in front of Palau Baltà.

On the Way

The Subirats route network can be explored by electric bicycle, on foot or on horseback. The three modes of transport mentioned range from electric cycling to walking and riding, giving the route network a diverse range of activities.
