Discover Sant Salvador de Guardiola

Sant Salvador de Guardiola has arcaded galleries along both side façades on the upper level of its parish church. Construction of the present-day parish church began in 1639; the new church was consecrated on 29 September 1642. This means that the building combines a striking architectural detail with a precisely dated history of its construction.

Culture and history

The origins of Castell de Guardiola are dated to the 10th century, specifically to the year 924. The parish church of Sant Sadurní de Salelles is a Romanesque church from the 11th century, with extensions from the 16th and 17th centuries. The Retaule del Roser de Salelles was returned to its original location in 2016 and is an early Baroque altarpiece.
