The Ruta patrimonial / Ruta urbana begins at Plaça de l'Església de la Santa Creu in Cabrils. It ends at the Museu-Arxiu Municipal de Cabrils – Can Ventura del Vi, housed in one of Cabrils' oldest farmhouses.
Culture and History
The Església de la Santa Creu is an 18th-century church with a Baroque façade and a 20th-century bell tower. The Museu Arxiu de Cabrils in Can Ventura del Vi houses agricultural tools, archaeological material and tools from traditional trades; the collection comes from donations by residents of the municipality.
The Font de la Sagrera preserves its original stones and its original wheel system for pumping water. The Font Picant is known for its carbonated water. Can Vehils is a fortified farmhouse with a square defensive tower and original pyramid roof.
In the southernmost part of the municipality, near the border with Vilassar, lies the church of Sant Cristòfol de Cabrils. A Roman road once ran through this place, followed later by a royal road; the church overlooks a group of old farmhouses and modern residential buildings. The Ruta dels rellotges de sol leads to more than twenty sundials in Cabrils, forming a distinctive astronomical, mathematical and historical heritage.
The Cova de les Encantades, also known as Forat de les Bones Dones, is interpreted as an Iberian cult site and served as an Iberian sanctuary cave between the 4th and 1st centuries BC.
Nature and Views
The Arborètum de Catalunya is located in the centre of Cabrils within the Parc de la Serralada Litoral. Self-guided or guided visits are available for groups of at least ten people, including families, friends or school groups. The grounds include a picnic area with swings, dining tables and an oven.
The Cova de les Encantades or Forat de les Bones Dones is a large tafone with two openings and a height of approximately 2 metres. It is listed in the catalogue of geological sites of interest of the Parc Serralada Litoral.
The peaks of Montcabrer and Turó de l'Infern belong to the Montcabrer-Burriac leucogranite outcrops and feature a particular diversity of lichens. Both peaks are listed in the Inventory of Geologically Interesting Sites of Catalonia within the Castell de Burriac geozone.
The Mirador de Montcabrer is a natural viewpoint overlooking Barcelona, Montnegre and Montseny. It has a safety railing, two panoramic information panels and an information sign about the summit cross.
Can Barba is a venue for night-time concerts with a stand for 300 people. More than one hundred tree and shrub species representative of Catalonia's vegetation zones can be observed on the grounds.
