The corridor known as “El Trenillo” is just under 30 kilometres long and suitable for cyclists, walkers and horse riders. Architectural History and Townscape

The Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción preserves a Gothic west portal from the early 16th century. The Casa de los Laras dates from the late 17th century and preserves a columned courtyard and upper galleries. The Casa de las Llaves has a portal made of dressed ashlar from the 16th century; a papal tiara and crossed keys are located on the door lintel.

The Casa de la Torrecilla was built as a kind of fortress with adobe walls and loopholes, as well as a small stone tower known as the Torrecilla. This tower is not the present-day tower. The current building was erected in the late 1960s on the floor plan of the former building.

A chapel is first mentioned in the second half of the 16th century. Construction began in 1506 under Pedro Naharro. On the façade below the eaves is a coat of arms bearing the royal arms of Castile and León, combined with the cross of Santiago. The building was erected in 1515 by the Order of Santiago as accommodation for poor people and travellers. It preserves two stone portals that once led to separate areas for men and women.

Crafts and Festivals

In La Villa de Don Fadrique, many women continue to practise textile crafts such as embroidery, bobbin lace and crochet. The Jornadas Fadriqueñas are part of the intangible cultural heritage of La Villa de Don Fadrique. They include theatre, music, historical talks, gastronomic tastings and a medieval market in the town centre between Plaza de la Glorieta and Plaza Mayor.

The carnival of La Villa de Don Fadrique takes place on Sábado de Piñata, that is, after Ash Wednesday, and reaches its peak with a regional parade of comparsas and floats. The town's carnival ends with the Entierro de la Sardina. The procession for Santísimo Cristo del Consuelo stops at the Ermita de Santa Ana.
