Discover Lucillos: Trails, Culture and Holiday Apartments

The Sendero de Brugel north of Lucillos combines a circular trail with varied landscapes. The route passes through cultivated areas, pastureland and dehesas and reaches close to the Alberche River. A tunnel allows the A-5 to be crossed. In this way, the trail presents different landscapes and a striking crossing within a small area.

The circular trail can thus be read as a connection between landscape and infrastructure: the agriculturally shaped areas, pastureland and dehesas form the landscape framework, while the A-5 tunnel marks a distinctly different, technically shaped section. The proximity to the Alberche provides another spatial reference, without this resulting in a uniform landscape form.

Nature and Trails

The ZEC Sotos del río Alberche Natura 2000 site ES4250014 also lies within the municipality of Lucillos. The protected-area status and the proximity of the Sendero de Brugel to the river represent two specific natural features of the area. Cycling

There is a commonly used cycling route for the Ruta Cicloturística in Lucillos. In addition, the XVII Ruta Cicloturística was announced in Lucillos. This means that a regularly used route and an announced edition exist side by side in the town. On foot and by bicycle, the two route references provide different ways of getting around.

Culture

The parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción stands out for its simple brick tower from the Mudéjar period. Inside, there is a 16th-century altarpiece. It is attributed to an unknown artist from the Castilian school of Toledo.

Another historic building is the Casa de don Clemente Palencia Flores, built in 1903. Its façade features a carved coat of arms considered to be more than 120 years old. Lucillos thus brings together a building with a documented construction date, a Mudéjar tower, an art-historically classified altarpiece and an old visible coat of arms.

Festivals

The Cristo de la Toza festival includes a Mass, competitions and open-air dance events. It begins on September 14 and lasts three or four days. The San Antonio festival takes place on June 13 and lasts two days. The two dates therefore fall in different months, while their durations also differ.

Swimming Pool

Admission passes are sold for the Piscina Municipal. Lucillos’ municipal swimming pool was temporarily closed until further notice because of air-quality problems caused by fires.
