Culture

The Palacio de la Cogolla dates from the 16th century and is associated with the Álvarez de las Asturias family. It has a square tower with a crenellated top. Its main façade dates from the 17th century and features a projecting cube-shaped balcony with round arches.

The Sendero del Remediu begins next to the Iglesia parroquial de Nuestra Señora, a 16th-century church with a Renaissance portal, and leads to the restored Fuente El Forcau, which has a small recreational area.

Ceceda/Cecea is situated on a hill above the course of the River Piloña. Traditional hórreos, Asturian manor houses and Indiano houses can be found there. The Capilla de Santa Lucía is considered one of the oldest chapels in the Concejo of Nava and preserves paintings from the 17th century.

The Museo de la Sidra, a museum, is located in the vicinity of Nava. A guided visit takes you through the various stages of cider production and ends with a glass of cider being poured.

The Festival de la Sidra Natural en Nava is classified as a Festival of National Tourist Interest. The festival includes competitions for cider and for pouring cider.

In the vicinity of Nava are the Centro de Interpretación Armando Palacio Valdés, a museum, the Palacio de Valdesoto, a palace, and the Casa del Agua, a museum.

Trails and landscapes

The short-distance trails in Nava are signposted walking routes that, wherever possible, avoid traffic on paved roads used by vehicles.

The Ruta del Picu La Múa runs along a watershed ridge and offers views of the Cuerrias valley and the Nava plain.

The P.R.AS-198 Ruta de la Ribera del Río Peña is a five-kilometre route of low difficulty, with an estimated duration of two and a half hours. It passes the Molino de Prá and other historic watermills whose original channels and waterfalls have been preserved.

The Sendero Local de Nava is a seven-kilometre route with 150 metres of elevation gain, low difficulty and an estimated duration of two and a half hours.

Les Praeres is a mountain pasture in the Sierra de Peñamayor, accessible via a mountain road offering views of Nava. In autumn, the rutting of deer can be observed at Les Praeres in the Peñamayor mountains.

The GR105 stage runs along the eastern slope of Peñamayor through meadows, woodland, small brañas with scattered livestock huts and deep valleys. It reaches Les Praeres; there, a hut serves as a rest and picnic area.

The Mirador del Fitu, a viewpoint, and Peña Mea, a summit, are located in the wider regional surroundings of Nava.
