Nature
The Bosque de Muniellos encompasses the Munieḷḷos and La Vilieḷḷa mountains in Cangas del Narcea and is considered Spain's largest oak forest. A permit is required to visit the Muniellos Forest.
The ascent to the four lagoons of Pico de la Candanosa – la Peña, Grande, Fonda and La Isla – is considered a particularly interesting hiking route. The route to Cueto de Arbas combines glacial landscapes with impressive mountain views from an altitude of 2,002 metres. One route reaches Laguna de Arbas, described as the largest glacial lagoon in the comarca.
The Centro de Interpretación de Muniellos is located between Oballo and Moal outside the Integral Reserve. It has been established in a former quarry and is equipped with interactive rooms, projections and models.
The Narcea River and its tributaries in the Cangas del Narcea area are suitable for fishing for trout and salmon.
Culture
The Basílica de Santa María Magdalena, built in the 17th century, is considered one of the finest examples of Asturian Baroque. It is located in Cangas del Narcea beside the suspension bridge; the weekly market takes place in its vicinity.
The Monasterio de San Juan Bautista de Corias is connected to Courias by a stone bridge dating from the 14th century.

The Museo del Vino is located in the Lagar de Santiso in the surroundings of Cangas del Narcea. The museum preserves its wine press as well as various tools used in wine production and viticulture. The Wine Museum of Cangas del Narcea is also located in the surroundings of Cangas del Narcea. The Centro de Recepción de Visitantes Alejandro Casona is located there as well.
Bodega Monasterio de Corias offers a guided tour with a commented wine tasting featuring wines made from native grape varieties such as albarín negro and verdejo negro. The experience at Bodega Monasterio de Corias ends with a tasting of Chosco de Tineo.
A large pilgrimage takes place at the Santuario de Nuestra Señora de L'Acebu on 8 September; the following Sunday features a procession and a blessing of the livestock.
Geographical Setting
The AS-15, known as the “corredor del Narcea”, branches off the A-63 at Cornellana. In the wider regional surroundings of Cangas del Narcea are the Museo de Arte Sacro de Tineo, Peña Rubia mountain and Somiedo Natural Park.
