In the centre of Cangas del Narcea, there are numerous palaces and heraldic houses; the old Barrio de Entrambasaguas quarter is home to the Capilla del Carmen. The Palacio de Pambley was built in the 16th century and is the oldest palace in the town. The Basílica de Santa María Magdalena was built in the 17th century and is considered one of the outstanding examples of Asturian Baroque.

Culture and Townscape
The Monumento al Minero was inaugurated in 1984 and commemorates the mining heritage that was important to the area. Another notable link between architectural history and the landscape is the Puente colgante: local architect José Gómez del Collado built the pedestrian bridge in 1970; it is located 25 metres above the Narcea River and is not suitable for people who are afraid of heights.
The Marian sanctuary Santuario de Nuestra Señora de L'Acebu is located near Cangas del Narcea, on a hilltop at an altitude of 1,180 metres. A hiking route also begins near San Fiz and leads to the remains of Roman gold-mining sites.
Wine and Festivals
The Museo del Vino is located in the Lagar de Santiso and preserves its wine press, as well as various tools used for wine production and vine cultivation. A visit to the museum includes a guided tour of the Lagar de Santiso, a traditional bodega where visitors can learn about the wine-making process in traditional Asturian society.
The Paseo del Vino is a footpath connecting the wine-growing areas of San Tisu and Las Barzanieḷḷas. Over the past twenty years, Cangas del Narcea has developed into an up-and-coming wine destination with its own DOP Vino de Cangas designation.
The Fiesta de la Vendimia del Vino de Cangas includes a wine fair, a craft market featuring regional products, wine tastings and guided tours of the Museo del Vino. La Descarga takes place in Cangas del Narcea every year on 16 July.
Nature and Trails
The Parque Natural de las Fuentes del Narcea, Degaña e Ibias nature park extends through the municipalities of Cangas del Narcea, Degaña and Ibias and encompasses the upper reaches of the Ibias and Narcea rivers. Muniellos covers 55 square kilometres and is designated as an Integral Nature Reserve; its forest has remained largely unchanged for decades.
Official permission is required to visit Muniellos, and access is limited to 20 visitors per day. Muniellos has three official routes that begin and end at the Las Tablizas visitor reception centre; these include a 1.2-kilometre, low-barrier wooden walkway for the outward and return journey.
The ascent to Cueto de Arbas is a 7.2-kilometre, moderately difficult out-and-back hike through wet areas, peatlands and moraine deposits that reflect the glacial formation of western Asturias. The different route lengths and trail types give you specific points of comparison for planning your day.
Viewpoints near L'Acebu offer panoramic views of the valleys and mountain ranges around Cangas del Narcea. In the Cangas del Narcea area of the nature park, the Narcea and its numerous tributaries offer suitable opportunities for trout and salmon fishing.
