Undués-Pintano: Romanesque Church, Castle Models and Pyrenees Panorama

At the highest point of the settlement, the Church of San Adrián stands in the centre of Undués-Pintano.

Culture and History

Its outer apse features a Romanesque cornice with animal and human motifs. Inside the church, a Jaqués checkerboard frieze and a splayed Romanesque window with figurative capitals have been preserved.

The La Ruta de los Castillos Interpretation Centre displays realistic models of castles from the surrounding area. An explanatory audiovisual presentation there provides information about the museum's contents and about Ramiro I, the first king of Aragon. The centre is located in the Hostal del Prepirineo in Undués-Pintano and provides access to its exhibition.

Casa Nicuesa is one of the manor houses and forms part of Undués-Pintano's irregular historic streetscape. The remains of the Crucero de Ruesta, built in 1690, are located at the fork where the old road to Ruesta meets the road to Sos.

Trails and Landscape

Bee-eaters nest in the earth banks along the route to Ruesta beside the Río Regal.

On a ridge, the route offers extensive panoramic views of the Río Aragón valley with the Yesa Reservoir and of the high peaks of the Pyrenees.

A variant of the Senda de la Sarda begins near Undués-Pintano and runs parallel to the Regal River to Ruesta. A circular hike begins in Undués-Pintano and leads northwards in a gentle, sustained ascent along the southern slope of the Sierra Nobla. Another hiking route runs parallel to the road along paths between farmland and meadows.

A varied trail leads uphill from Undués-Pintano and, in its final section, crosses an oak forest on the shady side of the sierra. A mountain-bike route leads from Pintano along the A-2602 road through Undués-Pintano and then climbs again via 4 Caminos on a different route.
