During the breeding season, visitors can observe, among others, the Dupont's lark, also known as “Rocín”, as well as Calandra larks, Thekla's lark, the Black-bellied sandgrouse and the Eurasian stone-curlew.

Culture

Codo Castle had a rectangular layout and was protected by a tower at each corner.

It was destroyed in 1937 during the Battle of Belchite in the Spanish Civil War; only some sections of wall and other foundations remain.

The Parish Church of San Bernardo is a Baroque church from the mid-17th century with a rectangular layout and three naves.

Its exterior is dominated by a Mudéjar-style tower, while the interior is Baroque.

The Hermitage of Our Lady of Montserrat was built in the 1960s over an older chapel as a memorial to the Requetés of the Tercio de Nuestra Señora de Montserrat who fell in the Spanish Civil War.

It has a single nave and an altar depicting the Virgen del Pilar and Our Lady of Montserrat. The hermitage is open only on the day of the celebration.

At the cultural sites, you can consider the period of construction, layout, style and commemorative function as separate features.

Other places to discover in the regional selection include Cabañas De Ebro, Puebla De Alfindén, Vera De Moncayo, Fuentes De Ebro, Gallocanta, Villalengua, Almonacid de la Sierra and Boquiñeni.

Festivals

Codo celebrates its main festival on 20 August in honour of San Bernardo; this is attributed to its Cistercian past.

The Dance of Codo includes the pasacalles “Cuatro Galanes”, as well as the dances “La Malva”, “El Cerecero”, “Los Pajarillos”, “San Bernardo” or “El Santo”, and “Los Tordos”.
