Culture

Pueblo Viejo de Rodén, in the municipality of Fuentes de Ebro, is protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural in the category Conjunto de Interés Cultural, designation Sitio Histórico. The current church of Iglesia de San Miguel Arcángel was built between 1535 and 1545 by the French architect Quinto Pierres Vedel. Iglesia de San Miguel Arcángel is a brick church with three naves of different heights. Its exterior brick walls feature Mudejar tracery ornaments; the current tower was later built by the architect Félix Navarro.

Fuentes de Ebro’s Semana Santa was recognised in 2025 as a Fiesta de Interés Turístico de Aragón. La Corona is a settlement from the Republican era on the right bank of the Ebro, in the municipality of Fuentes de Ebro. Los Pastillos is a local tradition involving a round pastry in whose centre whole eggs are secured with two strips of dough arranged in a cross. The ingredients used are flour, eggs, oil, sugar, Viennese flour, sourdough and orange blossom essence.

Landscape

Cabezo Pufarrando is a restored former alabaster quarry with a path around the hill. From there, it offers wide-ranging views over the Huerta, the quarries and the surrounding cultivated landscape. Fuentes de Ebro also offers a network of routes through green spaces that can be explored on foot or by bicycle.

One green space in Fuentes de Ebro covers 28 hectares of Aleppo pine forest. It has a forest trail for running or walking, with signs marking the route and opening up views of the municipality.

Routes and Observation

The route to Cabezo Pufarrando and the alabaster quarries is approximately 7 km long from the town centre. The route connected with Muladar de Fuentes de Ebro is approximately 4.5 km long and can be completed on foot, by bicycle or by car. The different lengths and means of transport provide a clear basis for comparing two nature routes.

At Muladar de Fuentes de Ebro, outside the fenced area and in the immediate vicinity of the feeding site, there is an observation hide from which birds can be observed without disturbance.
