Discover Cuarte de Huerva: Castle, Culture and Nature

The focus of Cuarte de Huerva is its history, underground nature and public open spaces. Cuarte Castle was built in the 10th century. Cueva de las Canales contains underground gypsum crystals more than 3 centimetres long. Cuarte de Huerva Municipal Park covers an approximate area of 33,000 m² and has an open-air stage for performances and events, as well as a jogging circuit.

Culture

Cuarte Castle is protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural in the category of an archaeological zone. The oldest surviving document relating to Cuarte de Huerva dates from 1128, when Alfonso I the Battler liberated the town.

The Sala Multiusos in Cuarte de Huerva is equipped for theatre performances, concerts and film screenings. The Casa de Cultura displays a permanent collection of paintings and sculptures by contemporary artists. The municipality is also home to the Monasterio de Santa Fé, which was rebuilt in the 18th century in the Baroque style that has survived to the present day.

Nature
