Discover Farasdués: River Landscape, Cultural Heritage and Holiday Apartments

Landscape

Farasdués lies on the left bank of the Arba de Luesia River. The Agonia River, also known as the río Farasdués, runs through the Farasdués area and flows into the Arba before Rivas. The two river references provide different geographical points of reference if you want to mentally organize the landscape and routes.

Culture and History

The Ermita de Santa Orosia is located about one kilometre east of the town centre and can be reached via a path leading to the cemetery. Its structure dates from the 14th century; in the 19th century, it was extended and converted to its present rectangular floor plan.

Farasdués’s archaeological heritage includes a Roman bustum from the 1st century, a pyre or funerary monument containing the ashes of a deceased person and a small funerary offering. The Corral Viejo del Moncho archaeological site can be reached via a municipal track that branches off at kilometre 15 from the Ejea de los Caballeros–Luesia road, before it crosses the Agonia River. At the site, remains of several walls and anthropomorphic graves can be seen; they are located at the top of the slope in detached blocks of rock.

Two arched gateways remain from the former fortifications of Farasdués and its Judería. The Church of Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza is a 16th-century Renaissance building and houses a 15th-century altarpiece. The main altar of Our Lady of Hope is attributed to Petrus Aibar and Agapito Andreu and dated to 1702. The Cruz o pilón del Serrallón stands at the fork of the old roads to Biota and Ejea de los Caballeros, on a hilltop with wide panoramic views.

Activities

Route 6: Malpica is a 63-kilometre road cycling circuit with moderate physical difficulty and low technical difficulty. After the descent, the route follows the Agonia River through Asín and Farasdués. Hiking, mountain biking and nature photography are offered in the El Monte area. This allows you to distinguish between a longer road circuit and the various types of activities in the El Monte area when planning your trip.
