Culture

On the road, on a hill above Jereka in the Upper Bohinj Valley, stands the Church of St Margaret. It is a high-quality Baroque ecclesiastical building with an older medieval structure, a medieval painted bell tower, and rich Renaissance and Baroque furnishings. Nature

The ascent to Vodnikov razglednik can be undertaken from Jereka. It takes about a little over an hour and involves an elevation gain of 387 metres. The starting point of the route is at the bridge in Jereka. From there, the path leads to Koprivnik; Koprivnik lies directly below Vodnikov razglednik. The viewpoint itself is situated at an altitude of 1,017 metres. From there, views extend across large parts of Bohinj and the surrounding Julian Alpine range.

History

In the stone of the path from Jereka to Koprivnik, ruts worn by wagon wheels are still visible. The historic route from Jereka to Koprivnik was reinforced in the 18th century to allow the unobstructed transport of iron ore and charcoal from Pokljuka. Thus, along the same route, visible traces in the stone stand alongside its documented function from the 18th century.

The Juliana Trail also passes through Jereka. The sixth stage descends through the forests and pastures of Pokljuka to Jereka in the Upper Bohinj Valley.
