The brick railway station building dates from 1870. The Podnart station complex also includes a brick water tower and a residential building for unmarried railway workers; both have been preserved.

The houses Hiša Podnart 26 and Hiša Podnart 27 also represent different historical references. Hiša Podnart 26 is a monument of local importance and was built in 1928 as an inn with an ancillary farm building. The building Hiša Podnart 27 serves as a hunting lodge. The year 1928 and the designation hunting lodge thus set two clearly distinguishable accents in the local history.

Several preserved architectural elements thus come together at the railway station: the brick building from 1870, the water tower and the residential building for unmarried railway workers. Together with the two houses Hiša Podnart 26 and Hiša Podnart 27, they create a townscape in which transport history, former uses and different building types stand side by side.

Culture

On 22 March 2025, the groups Orion and Artistik performed the concert “Vrača se pomlad” at the Kulturni dom Podnart. On 11 January 2025, the improvisational theatre performance “Smešn´ga pa zdrav´ga” by KUD KIKS was on the programme at the Kulturni dom Podnart.

The local holiday commemorates the birthday of Josip Pogačnik, who was from Podnart and was the president of the first Slovenian national government. It is observed on 19 October.
