Nature

Culture

St. Achatius Church in Nemški Rovt was built on medieval foundations and remodeled several times. Its southern exterior wall presumably contains preserved remnants of a fresco depicting Saint Christopher, probably dating from the second half of the 15th century. Inside, the church houses a Gothic relief entitled „The Meeting of Joachim and Anne at the Golden Gate“, dated to around 1525.

Another historical detail can be found at the old Kobal farmstead. Its façade preserves Baroque frescoes from 1777. The church and farmstead thus represent different historical layers within Nemški Rovt: medieval foundations, a presumably late-medieval fresco, a Gothic relief from around 1525, and Baroque façade painting from the 18th century.

Getting there

Nemški Rovt cannot be reached by public transport. There are no parking spaces in the village; it takes about 25 minutes on foot from Bohinjska Bistrica. The approximate time stated here is expressly only an estimate.
