Kežmarok is home to several cultural attractions. The Evangelical articled wooden church in Kežmarok has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. Kežmarok Castle is the only fully preserved castle in the Spiš region. The Evangelical Lyceum in Kežmarok houses the largest historic school library in Central Europe.

The J. M. Petzval Museum in Spišská Belá presents the development of photographic and cinematographic technology in J. M. Petzval's birthplace. It contains more than 600 exhibits on the history of photographic optics, displays a collection of camera shutters, and dedicates one section to the origins of cinematography. Kaštieľ Strážky presents a portrait exhibition from the 17th to the 19th century in the Spiš region. The Európske ľudové remeslo festival takes place annually in the historic center of Kežmarok.

Original Goral buildings have been preserved in Osturňa, arranged in farmsteads with log houses, barns, and stables. A total of 157 structures are designated as part of a heritage reserve. The inhabitants of Osturňa continue to wear the traditional dress of the Goral ethnic group.

Nature and landscape

The Dunajec Gorge is partly located in Kežmarok District and includes the cadastral areas of Červený Kláštor, Lechnica and Lesnica. An educational trail with ten stations runs through the Dunajec Gorge. Visitors can travel along the Dunajec there on traditional wooden rafts.

Jezerské jazero is a protected natural formation southeast of Jezersko below the steep slope of Spišská Magura. The ridge of Spišská Magura is more than 30 kilometers long; its highest peak, Repisko, reaches 1,259 meters above sea level.

Paths and excursions

A cycle path connects Spišská Belá and Kežmarok and passes through the English park at Kaštieľ Strážky. The Pieninska cesta connects Červený Kláštor with Szczawnica and is now used as an educational trail and cycle route.

Malá Franková has the two educational trails Furmancova droga Dolným koncom and Furmancova droga Horným koncom. The educational trail in Malá Franková ends at a stream and a chapel, where visitors can observe the local wildlife.

The Vrbov thermal park has nine pools, including three children's pools.
