Holiday Apartment in Malý Slavkov – Nature, Church and the Tatras

Malý Slavkov reveals several clearly distinguishable aspects: protected nature, historic church art, connections to the Tatras, as well as opportunities for golf and cycling. Specific areas, construction years, route types and dated events give these topics a clear outline.

Nature

The nature of Malý Slavkov is characterised by two protected areas with different sizes and spatial ranges. The Slavkovský jarok protected area is located in the cadastral territory of Malý Slavkov and covers 2.48 hectares. The fourth level of protection applies there; Slavkovský jarok is also one of three sites of an endangered species in the sub-Tatra region. The Kút nature reserve covers 11.22 hectares and extends partly into the northwestern part of Malý Slavkov. Several plant species grow in the Kút nature reserve that are described in the municipal plan as critically endangered.

Landscape

Another connection to the Tatras is provided by the Slavkovský potok stream. It flows through Malý Slavkov and originates in the Skalnatá Valley in the Tatras. Thus, in addition to the protected areas, a body of water with a clearly named origin in the Tatras also forms part of the local landscape.

Culture

The cultural side of Malý Slavkov centres on the Roman Catholic Church of Saint Michael. It was built in 1844–1847 in the Classical style. Its organ was made by Gebruder Rieger and bears the dates “Vienna 1873” and “Paris 1878”. The church also has a late Renaissance relief. The construction period, style, organ and relief give the church several distinctive historical details.

Golf and Cycling Routes

Golf and cycling take different forms in Malý Slavkov. The Royal Valley Golf Course is situated in a landscape at the foot of the Tatras and offers views of the peaks of the High Tatras. The golf course is designed for a wide range of golfers, from beginners to experienced players. For cycling routes, both the direction and the route types are specified: marked forest cycling routes lead from Malý Slavkov to the High Tatras. The Kežmarok–Malý Slavkov–Vrbov cycling route runs along asphalt, field and forest paths.

Events

There are two dated event notices for 2026. A “DIVADELNÝ VÍKEND” was listed at the cultural centre in Malý Slavkov for 13 February 2026 at 19:00. On 22 August 2026, a vintage car exhibition was announced in Malý Slavkov at Privát Horec.
