Kaplna combines cultural history with cycling and hiking trails. The village is home to the Romanesque-Gothic Church of St. Elizabeth, “sv. Alžbety”, which is considered an example of the transition from the Romanesque to the Gothic style. Its unrendered brick façade is complemented by light pink plaster. Archaeological finds take you even further back in time: they provide evidence of a Neolithic settlement in Kaplna dating from the fifth millennium BC. This allows you to consider architectural details, early settlement history and outdoor activities as different focal points of your visit.

Culture and Remembrance

The Church of St. Elizabeth, “sv. Alžbety”, continues to serve the local Roman Catholic parish and a nearby Salesian centre. Kaplna also has a memorial room with historic furnishings; it can be visited by prior appointment. In front of the cemetery and on the main road, the wayside shrine Božie muky commemorates Turkish raids and bears the year 1568. Kaplna’s cultural programme includes Christmas markets selling traditional slaughter specialities. Thus, the village’s cultural offerings place sacred architecture, commemorative objects, a historic memorial and seasonal market activity side by side, without requiring a fixed itinerary.

Cycling and Hiking Trails

Kaplna lies on the E61 trunk road between Trnava and Senec. For cycling, the route “2006 – Senec – Boldog – Čataj – Igram – Kaplna” is described as being 12.50 km long. Within Kaplna, it follows a side road past the football pitch, crosses the I/61 road and runs back towards the municipal office. There is an electric bicycle charging station at COOP Jednota. In addition, the hiking trail through the catchment area of the Kaplnský potok in Kaplna has been made accessible; it is marked and adapted for older visitors. The specific length of the cycling route and the special preparation of the hiking trail provide two different points of reference for planning your day.
