Holiday apartment in Most pri Bratislave: Lakes, culture and cycling connections

Most pri Bratislave combines a varied waterscape with remarkable churches, monuments and traces of history. Between Zelená voda, the Zelené jazerá lakes and the Malý Dunaj lie fishing waters, floodplain forests, cycling connections and structures dating from several centuries. The settlement of Studené, with its manor house and a preserved remnant of the former park, is also part of the character of the municipality.

Nature and water

Zelená voda is a lake created by gravel extraction and surrounded by rare floodplain forests. The body of water is used for fishing and hiking and is regarded primarily as a fishing area. There is no lifeguard there; swimming is at your own risk.

The three lakes of Zelené jazerá were formed from former gravel extraction sites left behind after the regulation of the Malý Dunaj. Together, they cover 17.6 hectares. All three lakes are fishing waters, and two of them are also used for recreation and sports.

Within the municipality of Most pri Bratislave, remnants of floodplain forests lie along the Malý Dunaj, forming secluded natural spots. The Blatina canal flows into the Malý Dunaj within the municipality and is considered a paradise for anglers. In addition to the manor house in the settlement of Studené, a remnant of a park from the first half of the 19th century has also been preserved.

Culture and history

The church Kostol Najsvätejšieho Srdca Ježišovho preserves damaged Gothic frescoes and a stone baptismal font from the 14th century, which is still used in the new church. The church may also preserve a presbytery from a 13th-century chapel that was extended in the Early Gothic style around the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. There are also unusually rare stone ciboria. The church is listed under reference ÚZPF 494/0.

The church Kostol Božského Srdca Ježišovho has preserved stone baldachins that, to this day, survive only in Most pri Bratislave in Slovakia. Another testament to the local history is the Božia muka near the agricultural cooperative: it was built around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries in the Classicist style.

The memorial to Milan Rastislav Štefánik was erected in 1923 at the site of the plane crash; its architect was Dušan Jurkovič. The monument to Milan Rastislav Štefánik in Most pri Bratislave is listed as a national cultural monument under reference 2080/1. In the church garden, the monument to the victims of the First World War names 43 victims.

The manor house in the settlement of Studené was probably built in the 17th century by the Hideghétiovci family as a single-storey Renaissance building. Another historical account sees it as originally a monastery, which Ján Balassa had converted into a Classicist manor house and extended with an additional storey at the beginning of the 19th century.
