The exploration of Zálesie begins by the water: the Malý Dunaj forms a large meander that surrounds the village from the northwest to the northeast. At Zálesie, the river is considered to have come alive again; its wildlife includes numerous birds and fish.

Nature

Korzo Zálesie offers space for walks in nature and for observing fauna and flora. The Korzo also includes a natural amphitheatre used for smaller cultural activities with a view of the water. Water

Another rafting trip runs from Lodenica Zálesie to the Gešajovské mlyny. For trips on the water, Lodenica also offers canoes, boats and catamarans.

Views

The Maják is located on the bank of the Malý Dunaj near Záleská lodenica. It serves as a lookout tower and is situated along both a hiking trail and a cycling route. From its summit, there is an unobstructed view extending three kilometres along the river horizon.

Culture and history

The Gešajovské mlyny are replicas of historic water mills. They are displayed on the Malý Dunaj near Zálesie, next to the Maják and the Korzo. The Gešajovské mlyny project was completed on 17 November 2012; replicas of mills were placed in the Malý Dunaj as part of the project. Since the end of 2012, an educational information trail about water wheels has also been accessible there.

The Chapel of the Holy Trinity was built in 1932. Its interior has a single nave and a segmentally terminated presbytery. A statue of Saint Joseph stands in the niche above the main entrance. Zálesie was initially named Gešaj in honour of a benefactor.

Cycling route

The route Okolo Korza Zálesie až k Slnečným jazerám runs from Bratislava via Vrakuňa, Zelená voda, Zálesie, Ivanka pri Dunaji, Bernolákovo, Nová Dedinka and Tureň to Senec. The cycling tour through Zálesie is 40 kilometres long and has an elevation gain of 149 metres. It consists of 90 percent asphalt and 10 percent unpaved sections and takes two to three hours with a break in Zálesie. The cycling tour is considered suitable for less experienced cyclists and families with children.
