History and culture

Hronská Dúbrava was first mentioned in surviving archival documents in 1388. A bronze spearhead found during earthworks on the railway in Hronská Dúbrava is dated to the Middle Bronze Age, from 1500 to 700 BC. The railway is also part of the locality’s history: railway operations on the Hronská Dúbrava–Levice line began on October 27, 1896. The Materstva Panny Márie Chapel stands in the upper part of the village. A Holy Mass is celebrated there annually on the anniversary of its consecration. The chapel was built during the totalitarian period despite pressure from the system in power at the time.

The village today

Today, the upper part of Hronská Dúbrava is used primarily for recreational purposes and is an area with holiday homes. For 2025–2026, Hronská Dúbrava is kilometer point 0 of line 154 to Banská Štiavnica.
