Holiday apartment in Jastrabá: Church, hiking trails and nature
In the center of Jastrabá, the Church of the Archangel Michael stands in a fortified complex on elevated ground. The Early Gothic building dates from around the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. Two original Gothic portals have been preserved in the church, and the presbytery also contains a Gothic tracery window. This building therefore combines a clearly dated period of construction with specific surviving details of Gothic architecture.
Culture
The village’s two wayside chapels also introduce different chronological and stylistic accents. One wayside chapel in Jastrabá dates from the late 18th century and is Late Baroque. A Neo-Baroque wayside chapel stands in the lower part of Jastrabá. The sacred buildings thus represent different periods without belonging to a single building type or a single period.
Hiking
A yellow-marked hiking trail to Jastrabská skala leads from Bartošova Lehôtka. The route is clearly defined by its colored marking, named starting point and destination, Jastrabská skala. A hike from Nevoľné to the Jastrabá railway stop takes approximately two to three hours. Chomok offers a view over the entire village of Jastrabá. On St. John’s Day, a bonfire is built on Chomok. The route, approximate duration, viewpoint and calendar-related custom represent different aspects of the hiking destinations mentioned.
Nature
Ostrá hora is a twin-peaked basalt hill southeast of Jastrabá. A heart-shaped pond was created at the Ostrohorská spring on the way to Ostrá hora. Ostrá hora has its own flora and fauna, including Woodsia skalná, nátržník piesočný, skalná ruža, various bird species and forest animals. The natural features therefore range from the distinctive shape of the basalt hill and the spring with its constructed pond to the specifically mentioned plant and animal life. Rhyolite is the predominant rock in Jastrabá.
Jastrabá railway station is step-free accessible from the reference point. This access constitutes a separate local feature alongside the buildings, paths and landscape characteristics mentioned above.
