Winter sports

The Ski Krahule ski resort has a four-seater chairlift and four ski lifts. A 5 km-long cross-country skiing trail is located near the ski resort and is groomed for both classic skiing and skating, as required. Skalka can be reached from Krahule on cross-country skis from the ski lifts via Predné pláne and Zadné diely. The cross-country skiing route from Krahule to Skalka is groomed across a wide area and is used not only by cross-country skiers but also by sledgers and pedestrians for winter and summer tourism.

Nature

A walk leads to the Krahulský štít lookout tower; it is suitable for all age groups and marked with signposts along the entire route. From the lookout tower, there is a view over the town of Kremnica and, in the background, across the entire Žiarska Basin. Another route is the „Krahule – Salka Via ferraty“ trail: it is 4.5 km long, takes approximately two hours and has a low level of difficulty. It is suitable for hiking, cycling and ski mountaineering. The route begins at the Krahule ski slope and continues along a well-maintained forest road with a moderate incline to Skalka. Those who continue along the path without taking the turn to the viewpoint will reach Krahule.

Cycling

The Kremnica – Krahule – Skalka – Kremnica cycling route connects Kremnica, Krahule and Skalka and passes through the Kremnica Mountains.

History

Krahule – Blaufuss is an originally German settlement of woodcutters, charcoal burners and miners dating from the 14th century. The Church of Saint John of Nepomuk, a Baroque-Classical church built in 1806, is also part of the town's history. Krahule was also a centre of lace-making. In 1895, a state bobbin-lace workshop was established there to provide instruction in and facilitate the sale of bobbin lace.
