Holiday apartment in Bartošova Lehôtka: Nature and Cultural Heritage

Bartošova Lehôtka combines a volcanically shaped landscape with remarkable examples of folk architecture and sacred architecture. The municipality is crossed by routes to Jastrabská skala and Jazierko Slobodné, while farmhouses, a Baroque church, a historic defensive wall and a statue of St. John of Nepomuk reveal the cultural side of the village.

Nature

The surface of the municipal territory of Bartošova Lehôtka is predominantly forested, hilly and gently undulating. Its underlying rock is rhyolite; andesite occurs in the eastern part. The Kremnica Mountains, and therefore the entire municipal territory of Bartošova Lehôtka, are of volcanic origin and consist of andesite, rhyolite and bentonite clay. The geological terms thus describe not only the wider mountain range, but explicitly also the soil and underlying ground of the municipality.

Routes and destinations

One specifically described destination is Jastrabská skala. A yellow-marked hiking trail leads there from Bartošova Lehôtka; the ascent takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Thus, in addition to the destination itself, the character of the described route is also recorded: the marking and approximate duration belong directly to this access route.

Jazierko Slobodné can also be reached from Bartošova Lehôtka. At the Stations of the Cross, a signpost points the way. At Jazierko Slobodné there is a fire pit as well as a shelter with benches and a table. This equipment is located directly at the destination and supplements the route description with the facilities available there.

Culture

The farmhouse of Ján Baláž in Bartošova Lehôtka houses a mini-exhibition about the construction and maintenance of thatched roofs. The house is managed by National Trust n.o. and is included in the list of national cultural heritage sites. Individual visitors, organised groups and school groups are welcome.

The folk farmhouse in Bartošova Lehôtka serves as a living exhibition of traditional folk architecture and as an illustrative example of education in the field of cultural heritage. Short-term accommodation is also available there. A preserved farmhouse belonging to the Baláž family is an example of the folk architecture of Upper Tekov and is the last house with a thatched roof in Bartošova Lehôtka.

History

The Church of St. John of Nepomuk in Bartošova Lehôtka is a Baroque church built on an older Gothic foundation dating from the 15th century. A 17th-century defensive wall with rectangular loopholes runs around the church.

Bartošova Lehôtka also has a late Baroque stone statue of St. John of Nepomuk dating from 1783. Following reconstruction, the statue was relocated and is currently situated next to a bridge on the main road in Bartošova Lehôtka.
