History
The earliest written mention of Dolná Ves is associated with the year 1429; in this reference, the village was called Schwabendorff. King Sigismund pledged Dolná Ves, together with Horná Ves, Lúčky, and Kunešov, to the town of Kremnica. Historic occupations in Dolná Ves mainly included agriculture, forestry, and mining. Dolná Ves also historically served Kremnica as a raw-material base for ceramic production. In 1695, Kremnica was granted the right to collect bridge tolls in Dolná Ves.
The documented history of the village also includes dramatic events. In 1627, Dolná Ves was plundered by the Turks. In 1852, the inhabitants of Dolná Ves witnessed the ceremonial reception of the entourage of Emperor Franz Joseph I. Another trace from more recent times dates back to spring 2005: a coin was excavated in the Na záhumní field on the southern side of Brezový vrch.
