The Darscheider Drees is described as the most iron-rich spring in the Volcanic Eifel, with an iron concentration of 46 milligrams per litre. At the same time, it is classified as a weakly mineralised acidic spring with an extremely high iron content.
The spring has long been used to fill jugs with its bubbling water. The route to the Darscheider Drees leads from the Daun exit of the A1 via the L91 towards Darscheid; there is a car park behind the sports field.

Nature
The Path of Biodiversity is an informative circular trail around Darscheid, where visitors can discover a variety of biotopes. The trail is 13.5 kilometres long and includes 218 metres of ascent.
From the centre of Darscheid, the Lewald Route and the Path of Biodiversity lead past large trees through the Alfbach Valley. The Maare-Moselle Cycle Route and the Volcano Cycle Route are also located in the immediate vicinity of Darscheid.
Culture and History
The present-day Church of the Holy Cross was built between 1969 and 1971. It has a free-standing pyramid tower, above which a golden angel hovers at a height of 25 metres.
The Kabau theatre tent hosts music and theatre events, readings and parties. Approximately 300 tiered seats are available for this purpose.

From Darscheid, travellers can explore the nearby volcanic lakes of the Volcanic Eifel, hike or cycle through the Eifel forests, and take day trips to the Nürburgring and the towns of Daun and Gerolstein.
