Culture and History
The St. Wendelinus Chapel in Saxler dates from 1716 and has hand-carved wooden church pews. Saxler also has two wayside shrines in the form of rendered masonry blocks with sandstone reliefs, which probably date from the 18th century.

The Antonius Trail has connections towards Gillenfeld, Winkel, Udler, Brockscheid, Demerath and Steineberg. Nature and Landscape
The Volcanic Eifel is designated both as a nature park and as a UNESCO Global Geopark. Its landscape includes maar volcanoes, volcanic cones, lava flows and mineral springs. Mürmes is a protected nature reserve with a peat layer approximately four metres thick. Plants found there include bogbean, heath spotted orchid and round-leaved sundew. Mürmes is also an important breeding area for grasshopper warblers, garganeys and corncrakes.
Things to Do
The historic iron bridge, built in 1908, now spans the Maare-Moselle Cycle Route. Holzmaar has been protected since 1975; a circular trail through a beech forest allows visitors to explore Holzmaar. Visitors can rent a rowing boat on Pulvermaar.
