Activities

The reservoir in the Dreis district has a water surface of 10,000 square metres. In its upper section, there is a wetland biotope with a water surface. The reservoir provides space for picnics, sunbathing and quiet relaxation. At the same time, it is a starting point for hikes and runs through the forest on designated hiking trails and is suitable for fishing.

The Quellenweg is a circular trail around Dreis-Brück and Dockweiler that passes the Vulkania healing spring and Dreiser Weiher. The MTB Vulkan Trails begin in the centre of Dreis and run along forest and field paths near Ernstberg. The MTB route from Dreis leads through the Vulkaneifel landscape with gentle hills, streams and lush forests.

Culture and Local Traditions

Burg Dreis is first mentioned in 1579. The building is a three-storey gabled house with a round stair tower. The Bergkapelle stands in Dreis territory at an altitude of 577 metres above sea level, next to an old Roman road. It was consecrated in 1950 in honour of Our Lady of Sorrows.

The Bomber Crash Memorial Stone near the Brück cemetery commemorates the crash of an American B-17 on 1 December 1943. The Krotzenkapelle in Brück is a Fatima memorial chapel dedicated to honouring German returnees from captivity.

A local tradition is Kässchmerr: buttered bread with a topping, served in Dreis during Walpurgis Night as part of being accepted into the youth group.
