Kirschweiler: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

At Edelsteinhaus Hess, a guided demonstration shows how an inconspicuous rough stone becomes a sparkling gemstone. The house museum and mineral exhibition explain the historical background of the jewellery industry in Idar-Oberstein. In Kirschweiler, local businesses are involved in processing, trading and jewellery making; some workshops are open to visitors. Edelsteinhaus Hess also offers free visits to its gemstone cutting workshop, jewellery exhibition and mineral rooms.

The Steinkaulenberg gemstone mines include a gemstone tunnel accessible to visitors, a gemstone camp, prospecting fields and a geological educational trail.

Nature

The Kirschweiler Festung Trail runs through Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park. The route features natural quartzite rock formations with viewpoints, while forest is the predominant landscape element of the hike. This includes extensive stretches of woodland away from traffic noise. The terrace at Edi's Golfpark offers a striking panoramic view over the surrounding region.

Hiking

For more than half of its route, the Kirschweiler Festung uses new paths and the Ringskopf block scree slope. The trail is fully marked and can be walked in both directions. For the Kirschweiler Festung, 65 % of the route is designated as roads or narrow paths and 89 % as natural trail.

The hike starts at a hiking car park near the golf course and a wooden trail gateway. Marked access routes lead from Hettenrodt and Allenbach. Along the way, the Kirschweiler Festung reaches the historic Dreiherrenstein boundary stone and passes the Celtic fortification at Ringskopf.
